Germany Feels the Threat

Looks like more of Europe is awakening to the dangers of Islamist extremism.

ISLAMIC preachers in Germany have been told that they may be ordered to deliver their sermons in German rather than in Arabic in an attempt to halt racist diatribes.

The move reflects Berlin’s fears that a spark of ethnic and religious unrest could leap from the Netherlands to Germany, a country with more than three million Muslims.

Support for such a move is growing after a television channel used hidden cameras to film the imam of a Berlin mosque frequented by young Turks. He was heard telling worshippers that “Germans can only expect to rot in the fires of hell because they are non-believers”.

It seems like a sensible move and I'm all for it. But I have one question. How is you moral superiority doing today, Europe? We in the US have never rioted against Muslims on the scale the Dutch currently are, and we had a far greater reason to do just that. And we could never get away with forcing a group to speak a specific language. The hysterical screeching from the ACLU and others on the left would be deafening.

Look, I'm all for doing whatever is necessary to deal with Islamist fascists. And I'm glad Europe is starting to recognize the scope of the problem and is doing something about it. But just keep in mind your own reactions to these threats the next time you are complaining about something we do.
